| We the Blakey family
have been designing and manufacturing fireplaces, in our own workshops, to the
very highest standards since the early 1900s.
Throughout four generations, we have taken personal pride in
complete customer service.
High quality and service are our main aims and through excellent
advice and exacting installation we strive for total customer satisfaction.

Colin Blakey Fireplaces began as a family business around 1904
simply as “BLAKEYS” in the town centre in Scotland Road, then moved
further down Scotland Road and became “Blakey Ranges” in the 1940s.
During the Second World War our cabinet workshop manufactured “Utility Furniture”
whilst our metal workshop made aircraft wings.
After
the war we had to purchase massive quantities of tiles in order to get any deliveries
to manufacture the “ever popular” tiled fireplace, which flourished
throughout the Fifties and Sixties. The Seventies brought a new fashion, “The
Adam Style” fireplace, with Marble interiors and Timber mantels; numerous
tiles, which had become out of date were doomed to the rubbish tip. The next three
decades saw many varied styles, too numerous to mention.
Nowadays we specialise in two types of fireplace, which have
stayed popular throughout the years; “THE STONE FIREPLACE” and “THE
MARBLE FIREPLACE”. They have both stood the test of time and are timeless
themselves. The design of fireplaces is never ending, there is always something
new or an old design revived. Fireplaces made of natural material are unique;
each one is different and possesses its own character.
We
have always specialised in providing an exacting personal service throughout,
which includes our essential “complementary site survey”. All this
caring service has been instrumental in achieving our Centenary; an accomplishment
to be proud of. This is obviously a milestone and we will strive to continue to
provide excellent Quality and Service.
The company has seen many changes since 1904 and has been successful
in adapting to the fluctuating market trends. Throughout this time we have acquired
and accumulated a host of techniques, which influence our ability to guide our
customers, ensuring complete overall satisfaction. This experience and accrued
knowledge is invaluable for your lasting enjoyment.
In these days of endless regulations and abundant styles, we
endeavour to keep the choice simple, by painstakingly selecting fires and fireplaces
and so, presenting our customers with a concise range of quality products.
Colin Blakey Fireplaces remains a family business to this day.
May we take this opportunity to thank all our customers past and present for their
continued support throughout the last One Hundred s to this day.
